Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The same as the rest of the extremely old wines, this new ‘Saca 1/2017’ bottling of the NV Amontillado Viejísimo Solera Fundación is a wine whose only problem is being next to the Palo Cortado Abuelo Diego. It somehow does not achieve the same finesse and elegance and in comparison feels a little more rustic but is super intense and powerful with pungent, penetrating and persistent flavors and telltale notes of varnish, hazelnuts, rusty nail, low tide, sea breeze, brine, iodine and saltpeter. 318 half bottles were filled in January 2017.
