Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The Macvin does not usually carry the vintage, because even if the grapes are all from one single harvest—the 2013 in this case—the marc (spirit) is a blend of different years aged in oak before it’s blended with the grape juice. So, it’s not possible to tell apart different bottlings of the NV Macvin du Jura Blanc…. This is bottled with 17.5% alcohol after two or three years in barrel, which helps the alcohol to integrate with the grape juice. The longer the élevage in barrels, the better integrated I feel the components show. But there is always that grappa-like character in bottles like this. Some 4,000 bottles were produced from the 2013 juice.
