Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2015 Capficat is Xarello with no added sulfites, bottled unfiltered and unfined. 2015 was a very early harvest because of lack of rain and high temperatures, so the challenge was to harvest as fast as possible. It’s therefore a slightly riper year with less acidity than 2014, but the wine is a triumph over the natural conditions of the vintage. It has 11% alcohol, so light and fluid, from soils rich in limestone. The grapes were full-cluster pressed, and the juice fermented in well-seasoned barriques for a month and a half. This vintage might be a little unusual, but I loved it. I found it extremely harmonious, nuanced, fresh, complex and very balanced. The palate can be even subtler, a little fragile, light on its feet, but with intense flavors and mineral, tasty flavors and finish. 1,266 bottles were filled in June 2016.
