Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2004 Raymond-Lafon is a very commendable wine for the vintage. It has a rich and generous bouquet with candied orange peel, quince, butterscotch and a touch of melted butter that is instantly enjoyable, a bouquet you really want to stick your beak into. The palate is well-balanced and sumptuous in the mouth, with fine acidity and tension. This is refined and classy Raymond Lafon, the oak deftly integrated with impressive complexity on the finish, which lingers long in the mouth. This is a top 2004 Sauternes that I suspect can be purchased on the secondary market at a very reasonable price. Drink now-2025. Tasted February 2014.
