Produced from Poulsard grapes from old vines planted on Lias marl soils, the 2018 Cuvée de l’Enfant Terrible is very tasty and mineral, with finesse but with riper fruit than normal. Somehow the domaine reds show more finesse and better definition than the négoce wines, which is not surprising, as they usually come from better terroirs. Another sample from vines planted in 1939 was deeper and felt serious, but he was still uncertain what kind of blend he will bottle or if some of these components might merit a separate bottling…

Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts in tronconic vats of 500 litres and bunches destemed by hand. Minimum ageing of 1 year in French oak demi-muids (500 litres). Unfiltered, unclarified and no added sulphites.
