Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Always a great expression of Carignan, the 2013 Costières de Nîmes Ka sports its usual inky color to go with textbook notes of plums, currants, dried violets and tons of cedary spice. Medium-bodied, nicely textured and with good concentration, it has the tannic grip of the variety and a clean finish. The blend here is 100% Carignan, from 100-year-old vines, that was completely destemmed, vinified in concrete tanks, and aged all in demi-muids. It’s a beautiful example of the variety and will evolve nicely for 4-5 years.
