Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Sourced from one of the five existing tonel casks in the Bodega La Emperatriz, the March 2017 bottling of the NV Single Cask Oloroso del Tonel is a wine that was not touched since 2004, other than being refilled every three years. It’s a textbook middle-aged Oloroso, with aromas of dried apricots, noble woods, licorice and coffee and a spirity touch on the silky, lush palate. It has 17 grams of residual sugar that gives it that roundness, approachability and somehow commercial character. Only 480 500-milliliter bottles produced.
