Description
Marko Skin is an aged white wine made with 2 typical varieties, Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia and Hondarribi Zuri by Oxer Bastegieta from the family winery in Bizkaia in the Bizkaiko Txakolina region of Spain.
The vineyards are located in the village of Kortezubi, a small old town in Bizkaia, which is famous for its prehistoric caves. These caves have been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The soil of the vineyard is composed of calcareous clay.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand selecting the best grapes from the best and oldest vines on the property. At the winery, the grapes are macerated with skins in Padilla vats for 20 days. Subsequently, it is transferred to used 500L French oak barrels where it ages for 8 months. It has minimal intervention, no filtering and no fining. It is not certified organic.
Taste
Marko Skin is a white wine with fruity aromas. In the mouth it is intense, concentrated and robust. A wine with tannins present and with a lively acidity well balanced with the different citrus and fruit flavours.
A magnificent wine
Marko Skin is a wine made with minimal intervention, without filtering or fining, and has great ageing potential.
It is a masterpiece made with a handcrafted selection of typical varieties from the best and oldest vineyards of the estate.
To achieve this, the winery applies techniques based on respectful agriculture, where the use of pesticides and chemicals has been avoided.
In the gastronomic field, this wine is especially recommended for dinners with friends and as an accompaniment to stews and casseroles.
