Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
There is a subtle change in the name of their top red, and in 2020, it’s labeled as 2020 Terreus Cima de Cueva Baja. It’s from a slightly cooler year with fine-boned wines, and it’s aromatic, fresh and elegant with lots of depth and layers of aromas that peel off with time in the glass. The parameters of alcohol and acidity are quite similar to the 2019 that I tasted next to it, but the aromatic profile and mouthfeel are different. Here, the oak feels more integrated, and the wine is more fluid and with more elegance and nuance. 9,993 bottles were filled in August 2022.

Description
Mauro Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja is a red wine made exclusively with the Tempranillo grape variety by Bodegas Mauro under the VT Castilla-León denomination.
The grapes come from old vines of just 3 hectares planted in a loose clay-sandy soil cultivated without herbicides, preserving the environment and with the utmost respect for the fauna and the natural reserves of the vineyard.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small 15 kg crates. On arrival at the winery, an exhaustive selection process is carried out to discard any clusters that are not in optimum condition.
Once selected, the grapes are transferred by gravity to the tanks where they are fermented with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard itself. After fermentation, the grapes are macerated for two to three weeks.
After maceration and fermentation, this wine is aged for 33 months in French oak barrels , which gives it exceptional finesse and harmony.
Taste
Mauro Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja is a red wine with expressive fruity aromas and mineral nuances. In the mouth it is a powerful wine, with a lot of flavour, soft tannins and a very long and persistent finish.
A red wine with ageing potential
Terreus Paraje de Cueva Baja is undoubtedly the most sublime of the wines produced by the renowned winemaker Mariano García together with his sons.
Bodegas Mauro, located in Tudela de Duero, a historic town in the province of Valladolid, has distinguished itself by producing red wines that reflect the identity of the terroir and the winemaker’s knowledge.
In the gastronomic field, this is a wine that will perfectly accompany roasted red meat dishes, big game, Iberian acorn-fed ham, beef and cow cheeses.
Don’t wait any longer and try it, we are sure you will love it!
