Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2016 Charme Clarete is mostly Rabigato in a field blend coming in at 12.4% alcohol. Unusual in demeanor, this is a sort of orange wine that had skin contact for three days. It was kept in neutral barrels on the lees for three years. Refined and textured, this has velvet on the palate and then finishes with some power and grip. Dry, relatively neutral in flavor, very fresh and a little tannic, this is very serious in style. It is a food wine, not a porch-sipper. Niepoort says that, given the vinification process, this might last forever, but let’s start here.
