Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The subtle single-vineyard white 2020 Piesdescalzos has aromatic intensity and complexity but feels a bit shy and very young, following the style of the 2018 vintage, built around elegance and finesse. It fermented in a 1,200-liter Stockinger oak foudre with indigenous yeasts and matured with the lees in the foudre for a period of 12 months and was bottled straight from the foudre, unfiltered and unfined. There is nuance and detail, controlled power and subtle varietal character with a clear salty touch in the finish. 1,507 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2021.
