Description
Puro Rofe wines are handcrafted in the Canary Islands, under the denomination of origin Lanzarote, with the native grape variety Listán Negro.
It is a personal project of the young winemaker Caramelo Peña, who was a student of Dirk Niepoort, Raúl Perez and Rayco Fernández; the latter is a well-known wine distributor in the Las Palmas area.
Carmelo and Rayco joined forces with the aim of enhancing the volcanic qualities of Lanzarote, through minimal intervention and sustainable practices.
Elaboration
To make Puro Rofe Listan Mecánico wine, respectful agriculture is practised and the grapes are harvested by hand, earlier than usual.
The grapes are vinified by parcels, first they are crushed in a traditional press and then one part is macerated with whole bunches in amphorae, two parts in stainless steel and another part in barrels. Fermentation takes place spontaneously without filtering or fining.
Taste
Puro Rofe Listan Mecánico is a juicy wine, with red fruit aromas and volcanic notes, typical of the black landscape due to the holes dug in the volcanic ash. In the mouth it islight, fresh and crisp.
A wine marked by the island’s identity
Thanks to its origin from the grand cru vineyards of Lanzarote, characterised by its volcanic soil, the Puro Rofe Listan Mecánico wine is a wonderful choice for pairing with rice dishes, smoked meats and red meats, among others.
A young and light wine, with its fruity and spicy notes, which undoubtedly make it a perfect companion for any occasion. Its careful elaboration makes it a good wine with the authentic Canarian seal.
