Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The NV Amontillado Olvidado 1/5 comes from a selection of five butts (casks) of a forgotten amontillado (olvidado means forgotten) that were left for years in the Sánchez Romate cellars, until selected and bottled by Peter Dauthieu from négociant Viniberia. The nose is a telltale amontillado, very intense and pungent, with some flavors of tobacco leaves and roasted hazelnuts intermixed with marine, saline sensations. I tasted from a bottle that was filled on December 20, 2015, and they filled 2,000 half-bottles that day. The price given is for a half-bottle.
